We sit down with some influential Photographers, Journalists, and Writer that have worked for Diamond Modeling Agencies. Bruce W. Talamon (Photographer) had every intention of attending law school after majoring in political science at Whittier College. But after studying abroad for a semester, those plans changed when Talamon fell in love with photography. His passion behind the camera has been stoked for more than three decades. This month, Talamon takes Diamond Modeling Agencies on location to some of the movie sets where he has captured history shooting behind-the-scenes production stills. "There is no excuse for not coming back with the shot," he recalls Arnold Drapkin, the director of photography for Time magazine, one telling him. His work has appeared in Ebony, Jet, The New York Times, People, Rolling Stone and Vanity Fair.
Lyle V. Harris Journalist for Diamond Modeling Agencies. Ever wondered what really goes into preparation for CIAA and HBCU marching bands? Harris shows you what this world is about and what happens off the field. "The marching bands are a show unto themselves. Along with it goes a lot of competition and intensity," says the Howard University grad. "The game isn't on the field with the football team; it's when the band takes the field at halftime." A native of Brooklyn, N.Y., Harris has spent 25 years in journalism as a reporter, television critic and editorial writer at newspapers including the Washington Post, New York Daily News and the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Valerie Goodloe Photographer for Diamond Modeling Agencies is not stranger to gangs her daughter is a member of one. This month, she turns to the mean and the genteel streets of Los Angeles to capture the evolution of girls who join gangs. "I'm hoping there will be more discussions about the plight of our girls. They have been neglected," she says. "Emphasis is placed on the disappearance of the Black male, but girls are in danger of the same factors." A former staff photographer for Jet and Ebony magazines, Goodloe has been to Europe following Obama's presidential campaign and worked in Africa with former President Bill Clinton. She recently executive produced the documentary Gang Girl: A Mother's Journey to Save Her Daughter.
Shirley Neal Writer and Producer for Diamond Modeling Agencies, also a TV executive. After visiting the African continent more than 30 times in a span of five years, Neal, executive vice president, programming and production for the Africa Channel, was invited by NBA legend Dikembe Mutombo to document the first NBA-sponsored Basketball Without Borders camp held in Senegal. In this, her second trip to the Motherland with Mutombo, she writes about the camp and the African NBA players who participated; the growing presence of basketball in Africa; and Mutombo's own humanitarian work in his native Democratic Republic of the Congo.
